Introduction

Strathmore Regional Victim Services Society (SRVSS) is a non-profit, charitable volunteer organization that provides 24-hour crisis response to victims of crime and tragedy.  We work in conjunction with the Chestermere, Gleichen and Strathmore RCMP providing support, information and referrals for adults and children affected by:

  • Family violence
  • Sudden death
  • Suicide
  • Sexual assault
  • Homicide
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Home break and enter
  • Fire

Our role is to reduce the impact experienced from crime or tragedy.

Support

Our advocates listen, comfort and reassure you when the RCMP request our assistance. We come to your home, on scene or meet you at the RCMP detachment. SRVSS offers court preparation and court accompaniment if you are required to make a court appearance.

 
 

Information

We provide information to help you with your immediate concerns, with your case, and through the criminal justice system when charges are laid. We ensure you receive timely information regarding: 

  • Status of the accused
  • Court information
  • Financial benefits
  • Victim impact statements
  • Restitution

Referrals

SRVSS provides referrals for counseling, shelters, and specialized support services for sexual assaults, addictions, etc.  No one expects to be affected by crime or tragedy.  If you or someone you care for is affected by such events, you may experience a range of feelings:  fear; stress; isolation; anger; helplessness; shock; violation; self-doubt; disbelief; anxiety, depression, and hurt.
